The man has been identified as Vikash Sachdev, news agency PTI reported.

A spokeswoman for the airline said it had provided details to the police and aviation authorities and its senior management had flown to Mumbai to assist Wasim in the investigation.

"So I am taking suo moto cognizance and giving notice to Vistara also a copy to DCP Maharashtra to act against the airlines".

The Dangal fame actor Zaira Wasim had earlier alleged that she was molested while on a flight from Delhi to Mumbai.

The actor said she tried to click a photo of the man, but couldn't get a clear shot due to dim lights. It continued for another 5-10 minutes and then I was sure of it. The 17 year old actress posted a video on Instagram, saying how the man was rubbing his foot against her back and neck while she was half asleep.

"This is not done, I am disturbed".

"This is not the way, this is not (how) a girl should be made to feel because this is awful".

She said, "Its not only the case about Zaira".

She also promised to help the actress in any way we can. "This is the worst thing", she said, voice quivering, in the Instagram live video.

The National Commission for Women (NCW), as well as the Delhi and Maharashtra commissions for women on Sunday, also urged the teen actress to file a police complaint.

She demanded that there should also be an inquiry into why the cabin crew did not help the actor. "We are deeply concerned and regret the unfortunate experience Ms. Zaira Wasim had onboard our flight last night". It is sad that none of the co-passengers came ahead to help Wasim. "We want justice", the businessman's wife told ANI.

The person accused of molesting a minor actor, has been sent to police custody till December 13. A case has been registered under the POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) Act and Indian Penal Code Section 354 (assault with intent to outrage a woman's modesty) against Vikas Sachdev.

The aviation regulator DGCA has sought a report on the incident from the airline, sources said. Soon people including Jammu and Kashmir's Chief Minister, Indian wrestler Babita Phogat, and many others tweeted asking the police to take strict actions against the alleged molester.

"Any harassment or crime against women should be dealt with swiftly and effectively". I am really horrified the way this incident happened and after that the crew didn't help this girl.
