Gandhinagar: The new BJP government led by Vijay Rupani was taken oath in at a striking ceremony in the State capital of Gandhi agar on Tuesday.

A very Few hours before the oath-ceremony, Rupani, sporting an orange-colored jacket, and Patel greeted the chief ministers of BJP-ruled states who were present at the ceremony.

Sixtyone-year-old Vijay Rupani will once again serve as the Chief Minister of Gujarat.

"Will attend the swearing in ceremony of the Council of Ministers of the Gujarat Government", tweeted Modi. "Keshubhai Patel had taken oath as chief minister here".

Union Ministers Ravi Shankar Prasad, Nitin Gadkari, Rajnath Singh, Ram Vilas Paswan, Harsh Vardhan and Ananth Kumar were seen gracing the swearing-in ceremony.

The names doing the rounds for Cabinet berths are Bhupendrasinh Chudasama, Kaushik Patel, Ganpat Vasava, Dilip Thakor, Babubhai Bokhiria and Pradeepsinh Jadeja, reports PTI. Shankersinh Vaghela, former chief minister and one-time BJP stalwart is also on the stage, it adds. One woman was inducted as minister of state. Assembly speaker Ramanlal Vora too bit the dust.

The BJP's tally has been reduced to just 99 of the Assembly's 182 seats - its lowest ever in Gujarat since 1990 - while the Congress registered a strong revival, winning 77 seats and garnering a 41 per cent vote share.

BJP ally Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar also attended along with his deputy Sushil Kumar Modi.

It was under him as chairman of the Gujarat Tourism Development Corporation in 2006 that the hugely successful advertisement campaign "Khushboo Gujarat Ki", featuring megastar Amitabh Bachchan, was launched to promote the state as a tourism hotspot.

Earlier in the day, Rupani along with his wife Anjali visited the Panchdev temple in Gandhinagar.
