"Mariah Carey is adamant she'll be doing the soundcheck ahead of her performance at Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin" Eve' because she doesn't want a repeat of last year.

In the spirit of the new year - and staying on theme for the telecast, New Year's Rockin' Eve hosts Ryan Seacrest and Jenny McCarthy told Variety that they were happy Mariah Carey was invited back to perform at ABC's Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve With Ryan Seacrest, despite last year's disappointment. Mariah Carey had a major mishap previous year when she flubbed her nationwide performance. TMZ reports that the plan is for Carey to perform two songs on stage, including "Hero", before moving to the area where the ball drops to count down to the new year with Ryan Seacrest. Camila Cabello, Nick Jonas, and Sugarland will also hit the stage.

Lucy Hale will host the Central time zone countdown from New Orleans, where Imagine Dragons and Walk the Moon will perform. We do wonder if things are reasonably subject to change at the moment, given that this is now slated to be one of the coldest New Year's Eves in recent memory.
