Conte snaps at Mourinho 'clowns' jibe and takes aim at Wenger

The Manchester United manager was responding to comments made by Conte earlier in the day in which he appeared to make disparaging statements about Mourinho.

Conte's jab followed Mourinho's assertion that other managers act like "a clown" on the touchline, per Samuel Luckhurst of the Manchester Evening News.

"I don't like to speak about other coaches or players", Conte said.

Jose Mourinho intensified his war of words with Chelsea manager Antonio Conte in weird fashion after his team's FA Cup victory over Derby on Friday, apparently referencing a match-fixing scandal in Italy. Probably the journalist wanted to say that but didn't have the courage, so he said 'Mourinho said you behaved like a clown'. I think that is a form of respect you must have and, I repeat, sometimes, for example, Wenger forgets that in our last few games [against Arsenal], we finish the game with 10 men.

"Everybody knows, I don't need the Chelsea manager to say, that I made mistakes in the past and I will make in the future, hopefully". Conte, clearly feeling that Mourinho was referring to him, suggested that the former Blues boss was suffering from a form of dementia.

The two managers have been engaging in a public war of words over the past 48 hours, beginning when Mourinho insisted that just because he doesn't "run up and down the touchline like a clown" doesn't mean that he doesn't care about his job or that he might walk away. Conte, who is an animated figure on the touchline, was asked about the quote at his pre-match press conference and suggested Mourinho - who has wildly celebrated goals in the past - has "demenza senile".

It is a bit rich for a manager with Mourinho's history of bombastic celebrations to be critical of another, even if Conte has become famous for his passionate reactions during matches.

Before coming to Chelsea, Conte was implicated in a 2011 fixing scandal while boss of Italian side Siena, but was ultimately cleared of any wrongdoing five years later.

Conte penned an improved deal with Chelsea last summer after a superb first campaign at the helm, but his deal was not extended any further and he now only has 18 months left on his current terms.

"Because the question that comes to him is completely wrong, and because of that, he had that out of control reaction".
