Mad Catz returns from the dead with a dangerous-looking wireless mouse

Mad Catz returns with a new owner, new ideas and new products Mad Catz Returns Following Bankruptcy

And now, after brief stint with bankruptcy and being bought up by a Chinese holding company - Mad Catz is back!

Several months ago, the video game peripheral manufacturer Mad Catz filed for chapter 7 bankruptcy, which led many to believe that the company had ceased operations altogether after years of financial troubles.

Although the full list of products has not been revealed, Mad Catz confirmed that it would be previewing its first line of gaming peripherals at this year's Consumer Electronics Show (CES).

These new gaming products will include the new "R.A.T. air" wireless mouse, that will ship with its own "wireless activation gaming surface", which sounds very much like a mouse pad with wireless charging capabilities similar to what Corsair and Logitech announced past year. It all started in the late 80s and early 90s with some of the earliest third-party gaming peripherals, and just when Mad Catz was dominating the market, it made a few too many reckless moves and wound up betting everything on the success of Rock Band 4. Likewise, this seems to be a more humble and grounded Mad Catz, going back to the company's roots.

Anyway the mouse sounds pretty interesting as it offers wireless performance via power obtained directly from its gaming surface - i.e. fancy mouse-pad. He called the new company's attitude more sober. This is a wireless mouse that will be powered via a "wireless activation gaming surface", or through a USB cable, if required.

The new owners are a team in Asia who worked in Mad Catz manufacturing and development before it closed, I've been told. Lastly, the F.R.E.Q. 4 gaming headset implements high-quality 40mm neodymium drivers and includes a metal plated.

Speaking about the return, Mad Catz' Selena Chang explained that the company firmly believes that its "best days lie ahead".

They still look a little like Christian Bale's "tumbler" Batmobile, built out of lego and laser pens, then.
