President Trump's approval rating edges up to 40% — CNN Poll
The president's base of support is still wildly skeptical of Hollywood and the media

Trump's domestic approval rating has remained consistently locked in around 37% - plus or minus depending on which way the wind is blowing - for the past nine months, according to weekly numbers from Gallup.
The US rating is down almost 20 points from the 48% approval rating in the previous year of President Barack Obama's administration, Gallup said.
A new NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll finds that just 39% of Americans approve of Trump's performance, the lowest figure the poll has found for a modern president completing one year in office, according to NBC News.
Last year, the United States led in the global approval poll, beating out Germany 48 percent to 41 percent.

The US has fallen below China in the Gallup global poll once before, in the past year of the George W Bush administration in 2008, but both the US and China were significantly more popular then than they are now.
But Trump's approval rating of 40%, while an improvement for him, is the lowest mark for any elected president at this point in their term in the White House in the last seven decades.
The Gallup report said that China, which has overtaken the U.S. as the leading trading partner in parts of Latin America, "may be positioned to take further advantage". The US disapproval rating in the region of 39 percent is higher than China's 31 percent.
