The man suspected of causing the collision Sunday has twice been deported from the US, and had a 2005 conviction for driving under the influence in California, authorities said.

Orrego-Savala remained jailed Wednesday in Indianapolis.

Prosecutors said Orrego-Zavala, an undocumented immigrant who has been deported from the USA twice, crashed his truck on I-70 near Holt Road early Sunday morning.

Manuel Orrego-Savala, a Guatemalan man, who had been deported twice from the USA, rammed his vehicle into Edwin Jackson, 26, and Jeffrey Monroe, 54, while they were standing on the side of an interstate, police said.

Orrego-Savala's blood alcohol level was at 0.239 at the time of the crash, which is about three times the legal limit, reported the Indianapolis Star.

IN police identified the suspect as Manuel Orrego-Savala, a Guatemalan national. He tried to flee the scene but was arrested by a responding officer on a nearby exit ramp, according to Indiana State Police.

Orrego-Savala does not now have an attorney, but one will be appointed before Wednesday morning's initial hearing.

Trump's next two tweets included a poll from the "daily caller" explaining that 7 in 10 Americans support immigration reform and a statement on why the country needs a merit-based immigration system because "chain migration and the visa lottery are outdated programs that hurt our economic and national security".

Mears says the tests will help determine Orrego-Savala's identity and presence in the truck.

37-year-old Manuel Orrego-Savala - who was living in the USA illegally - appeared in court today where he was charged with 2 counts of leaving the scene of a fatal accident and 2 counts of drunk driving resulting in death.

A pretrial hearing for Orrego-Savala is scheduled for March 21. Jeffrey Monroe, 54, of Avon, Indiana, was the ride-share driver who also was killed in the crash around 4 a.m. Sunday.

"This was a completely preventable tragedy", he told Fox News' "Fox & Friends."

Collectively, Orrego-Savala is facing well-over a decade in prison if he is convicted.

"The family is in shock, as you can imagine". Additionally, he has many other misdemeanor criminal convictions and arrests in California and Indiana.

In the 2005 case, he pleaded no contest to two separate drunken-driving offenses and was given a brief jail sentence, San Mateo County District Attorney Steve Wagstaffe said Tuesday.

A police news release did not mention the presence of anyone else in the pickup truck.

"This is who my husband was", said Deborah.
