An ex-Google recruiter is suing the company, claiming that Google forced him to discriminate against hiring white and Asian men in an effort to make the company more diverse.

"YouTube past year stopped hiring White and Asian males for technical positions because they didn't help the world's largest video site achieve its goals for improving diversity, according to a civil lawsuit filed by a former employee", The Wall Street Journal reported on Friday.

A Google spokesperson responded to the suit, releasing a statement to the Journal that read, "We have a clear policy to hire candidates based on their merit, not their identity".

Further, she stated that the company is not hesitant in accepting that they look for a diverse pool of qualified candidates for open roles, and this helps them in hiring the best people, improve culture and build better products.

"In response to Wilberg's complaints and warnings Google would occasionally circulate e-mails instructing its employees (to) purge any and all references to the race/gender quotas from its e-mail database.to wipe out any paper trail of Google's illegal practices", according to his lawsuit.

Arne Wilberg (who until his termination of employment was a recruiter for YouTube) has filed a lawsuit against Google, accusing the tech giant of bias against white and Asian men.

Wilberg's lawsuit targets Youtube, Google, and 25 Google employees. This week, Loretta Lee, a female software engineer who worked at Google for seven years before she was sacked in 2016, filed a lawsuit against the company alleging that she was routinely sexually harassed at Google, and that the company did not intervene. Both federal and California anti-discrimination laws prohibit employers from making hiring decisions based on race or gender. Wilberg claims that he made multiple complaints to managers about YouTube's hiring process and escalated these complaints to superiors at Google before being fired last November.

Google is facing diverse diversity lawsuits.

According to the lawsuit, Wilberg's attempt to raise the issue of quotas did not go unnoticed. One person allegedly "complained that managers were speaking about blacks like they were objects". When Wilberg did not adhere to those rules, his performance reviews suffered, he alleges.

Although Google initially fought not to disclose the demographic makeup of its workforce, the company was the first big company in Silicon Valley to release an annual diversity report, which is now common practice among tech firms. Google denies that its salaries are discriminatory.

The lawsuit follows in the wake of a similar claim in January by former Google engineer James Damore, fired for penning a memo against diversity.

Finally, a Department of Labor official has also accused Google of practicing "systemic" discrimination against female employees.
