Technical issue causes huge delays at Sydney Airport

The airport is now experiencing technical issues at security and check-in desks, causing major interruptions to outbound flights. "We are working hard to catch up any delays", it said.
A technical problem hit the air hub of Australia's New South Wales state capital on Friday, when flight delays left crowds of worldwide and domestic passengers stranded for hours, according to Sydney airport authorities.

Jetstar expects all their flights will be back on schedule by midday, after its morning flights were delayed by an hour on average.

The technical glitch and subsequent delays come several months after flights were grounded at Sydney Airport's domestic terminal in September a year ago, due to a technical fault with an air traffic control system, managed by Airservices Australia.
The interruptions caused processing delays, and passengers and visitors were told early in the morning to avoid the terminals.
The technical failure was resolved about 6.30am, 90 minutes after passengers were initially stranded.
All planes yet to take off were instructed to disembark so passengers could be re-screened.
