Forget The Rockets, Stephen Curry's Ankle Is The Warriors' Biggest Problem

San Antonio took advantage of the Warriors' missing four rotational players in Andre Iguodala (left wrist sprain), Jordan Bell (right ankle sprain), David West (right arm cyst), and Stephen Curry, who tweaked his right ankle with 9:38 left in the opening quarter and left the game. Steve Kerr said that Curry would travel with the team but sit out Friday's game in Portland.

It was a tough blow for a player who was playing his fourth game since returning February 26 from a swollen left ankle that sidelined him more than a month. We've seen Curry have recurring ankle issues before and he's needed surgery before his MVP run, so making sure he's 100 percent is easily the Warriors' top priority right now after his fourth right ankle issue since December.

After Draymond Green stole the ball from Spurs point guard Dejounte Murray, he threw a hit-ahead pass to Klay Thompson, who hit Curry in stride as he streaked down the court to get out on the break.

But it's clear the Warriors didn't need extra reconnaissance Thursday with Kevin Durant lighting up the Spurs for 14 consecutive points - and 15 of the Warriors' final 19 points - in the fourth quarter to finish with 37 points (14-of-26 shooting), 11 rebounds and 4 blocks to lead Golden State's 110-107 comeback victory.

Australian-born Kyrie Irving had 23 points, eight assists and seven rebounds, and Al Horford added 20 points, eight rebounds and six assists for the Celtics.

However, home-court is secondary to this Warriors team. The Warriors then immediately yanked Curry out for Cook. He didn't return after limping to the locker room on his own power, and X-rays came back negative. "The team said he was getting re-taped and going through tests, then Curry didn't return - but the Warriors are going to be cautious at this stage of the season with the playoffs beginning next month". However, Kerr insists Curry is not going to be rushed back for the sake of chasing the No. 1 seed.

Friday night's trip to Portland makes this one of the most challenging back-to-back sets of the season for Golden State.

"We'll get Steph healthy".
