"The House Intelligence Committee has, after a 14 month long in-depth investigation, found no evidence of collusion or coordination between the Trump campaign and Russian Federation to influence the 2016 election", Trump said, repeating his assertion that his campaign did nothing wrong.
"We found no evidence of collusion, and so we found perhaps some bad judgment, inappropriate meetings".
House committee Chairman Devin Nunes, R-Calif., was set to send the majority's draft of the report to Democrats on Tuesday for their review.
"We have learned a great deal about countless secret meetings, conversations and communications between Trump campaign officials and the Russians, all of which the Trump Administration initially denied", he added.
"I think there were efforts to try to hurt Hillary and help Trump, but I think there was also the opposite too", Rooney said.
Rep. Mike Conaway, R-Texas, said the exhaustive probe ultimately found no definitive proof that the Trump campaign actively cooperated with any Russians to influence the vote. Conaway previewed some of the conclusions Monday, but said the public will not see the report until Democrats have reviewed it and the intelligence community has decided what information can become public, a process that could take weeks.
Lawmakers had been telegraphing that last week's committee interview with former Trump campaign manager Corey Lewandowski was likely to be the last of dozens conducted since the committee launched its Russian Federation probe last March.
"We disagree with the Intelligence Community's position that Putin favored Trump", Conaway told Fox News.
The House panel is releasing the report's findings Tuesday.
"Yeah, well, look they try to rewrite history", Nunes said of Schiff's complaints. The committee will now redirect efforts to investigate these issues, according to a preliminary summary of the report. Democratic members accused Republican colleagues of seeking to sabotage Mr Mueller's investigation, while Republicans charged Democrats with plotting to smear the president.
House intelligence Republicans wrote their report without Democrats, though Conaway said minority members would be allowed to offer their input before it is declassified and released publicly.
The congressional investigations are completely separate from special counsel Robert Mueller's probe, which is likely to take much longer.
The panel's lead Democrat Adam Schiff lambasted the report as a "tragic milestone" and a "capitulation to the executive branch", saying "Republicans will be held accountable for abandoning a critical investigation of such vital national importance". The reason I went to the White House because there were improper unmaskings done on trump transition officials that had nothing to do with Russian Federation.
Democrats later released their own 10-page memo rebutting the Republican allegations, saying the Federal Bureau of Investigation and Justice Department handled the warrant appropriately and the surveillance court was told there was political motivation behind the opposition research. "So I want to thank the House Intelligence Committee and all of the people that voted so strongly".
