Leonard Hamilton struggled to explain his team’s loss Leonard Hamilton struggled to explain his team’s loss

Florida State head coach Leonard Hamilton might be the only person in the world who thinks his team did not need to foul in the final seconds of Saturday's 58-54 loss to MI in the Elite Eight.

In the moments following a 58-54 loss to the Wolverines on Saturday in the NCAA Tournament's west regional final, Hamilton was asked by CBS reporter Dana Jacobson about the decision not to foul the Wolverines in the final 11 seconds while trailing by only four points.

After Hamilton's "what are you talking about?" initial response, his praise of Michigan's play should not go overlooked.

"You think the game came down to the final seconds of the game?"

Hamilton told Jacobson the question didn't make sense and the game was over, then almost walked away from the interview before stepping back toward the microphone.

Jacobson continued to press Hamilton on the question, but the coach looked at her as if she were insane.

Jacobson: "You didn't think your guys could get back in it, put them on the line if they miss those shots".

Hamilton released a statement Sunday admitting he did not initially respond to Jacobson's questions as he would have liked.

"I have been a head basketball coach for a long time and this group represented the very best college athletics has to offer in their connectedness, selflessness and love for one another", Hamilton said in the statement.

Hamilton went on to give credit to MI for winning the game, but never really answered why his team didn't foul down the stretch.

Immediately after the game, TBS commentator Reggie Miller questioned the decision to not foul.

"In the minutes immediately following, I was interviewed by Dana Jacobson of CBS".

Leonard Hamilton struggled to explain his team's loss. "Betting matters", wrote the Gambling QB.

"I just want to give [Michigan] the credit", Hamilton said. It was the right question to ask. "He was nothing but professional w/me throughout this weekend as I believe I was with them".
