The reviews include surveys in which respondents paint a picture of Strampel as a capable fundraiser and decisive administrator, but someone who "rules with fear" and regularly interjected sexual innuendo and comments about the appearance of women into conversations with students and co-workers. "We would encourage anybody with information, whether it be about former Dean Strampel or whether it's about anything at Michigan State that they're concerned about, call the hotline at the attorney general's office and report that".

Strampel, who is the former dean of Michigan State University's College of Osteopathic Medicine, is accused of sexually propositioning female medical students and compiling nude student selfies on his work computer.

Strampel told a campus detective and FBI agent in 2017 that he did not check to see if Nassar was following the guidance because Nassar had been "exonerated" in an investigation of a patient's complaint and that the imposed guidelines were "health care 101". He says Strampel did what he was required to do.

Nassar was sentenced in February to up to 125 years in prison after some 200 young women testified about decades of abuse at his hands. Warrants were authorized by Judge Richard Ball on Tuesday, according to the Lansing State Journal.

He was sacked this year for not enforcing protocols to keep check on Nassar after a victim came forward.

Tuesday's criminal charges invited more criticism from Nassar's victims and their attorneys of Michigan State's board of trustees, who resisted calls for almost a year to commission an independent investigation of how the serial pedophile - accused of abusing children as far back as the mid-1990s - was able to escape detection for so long. At least 12 reported assaults occurred after the probe ended, according to university police. Strampel served as dean of the College of Osteopathic Medicine from 2002 until December, when he stepped down for medical reasons. He faces four charges, including a felony charge of misconduct by a public official and a fourth-degree criminal sexual misconduct charge.

The school has also come under scrutiny for not sharing the full conclusions of the Title IX investigation with Amanda Thomashow, the woman who complained.

Dr. Strampel, 70 years old, was listed as an inmate at the Ingham County, Mich., jail on Monday night. Last month, interim president John Engler announced he was moving to end Strampel's tenure and have him fired because "allegations have arisen that question whether his personal conduct over a long period of time met MSU's standards". More than 150 females, including Olympic gymnasts, described abuse or otherwise spoke against Nassar at sentencing hearings. He denies that there was any quid pro quo for sexual favors."Regarding the charges relating to Strampel's supervision of Nassar, Dakmak said his client immediately involved other school officials in 2014 when the complaints surfaced and fired Nassar in 2016 when the sexual assault allegations were made". For almost a year, Michigan State trustees declined to request any kind of independent inquiry, and publicly maintained university officials, including Strampel, didn't deserve blame for Nassar's crimes.

John Manly, a lawyer for numerous victims, said his clients were encouraged by the latest arrest. "It demonstrates that he is serious about investigating the systemic misconduct at M.S.U. that led to the largest child sex abuse scandal in history, and holding the responsible parties accountable".
