A SHRINE to a career criminal has been created outside a home where he was stabbed to death during one of his burglaries - as the elderly couple he targeted are forced out in fear of reprisals. "He wasn't a murderer, he wasn't a rapist, they're putting (sic) him as a monster".

Mr Osborn-Brooks, who was arrested after Vincent's death but later released without charge, has been hailed a hero by some for taking on the burglar and his accomplice, who police are still trying to trace.

An angry local campaigner, Iain Gordon, who said he was from the Fair Society group, pulled down the flowers today laid by the family of Vincent.

Video had earlier emerged online showing a man pulling floral tributes to Vincent down from fences.

Assistant coroner Sarah Ormond-Walshe told two of Vincent's female relatives during a hearing at Southwark Coroner's Court: "I know you are having a terrible time - I am releasing the body now".

Flowers laid for the man killed in last week's Hither Green burglary-gone-wrong have been pulled down again, as tensions continue to rise in south-east London.

One tribute, thought to have been left by the dad-of-four's young daughter, said: 'Strangers can say what they like about you they don't no who you was so I don't care.

Police said they would need to receive a complaint from the owner of the fence where the flowers are being attached to take action.

Scotland Yard said it was liaising with Lewisham Council on an "appropriate management of the floral tributes".

Saverimuthu Augustine, 78, said he was "annoyed" that some flowers had been attached to fences around his house. "I think they're scum", she said at the scene on Tuesday.

A neighbour, Theresa Webb, described the tributes as "inappropriate" and of "poor taste". "There was 101 bouquets down there".

"If it is a normal person it is different - it could have been my house [that was burgled]".

Police are hunting the 28-year-old after his white Vauxhall Astra van was found burnt out and destroyed over the weekend in Orpington, Kent.

Heart-shaped balloons and more than 20 floral bouquets have been left near the spot where the dying burglar was found, across the road from Mr Osborn-Brooks's home.

A struggle broke out between the two in which Vincent was stabbed in the upper body. It is unclear what implement was used.

He then fled the property at around 12.45am and collapsed on neighbouring Further Green Road.

In January, Mr Jeeves and Mr Vincent were named and pictured by Kent Police in connection with an investigation into a distraction burglary on a man in his 70s.
