Sony Might Roll Out the Next Generation PlayStation 5 This Year

Sony Might Roll Out the Next Generation PlayStation 5 This Year Sony might announce the new version of PlayStation this year

As per some reports from the web, the next generation PlayStation 5 might be rolled out this year.

Meanwhile, Wedbush Securities analyst Michael Pachter told WCCFTech that there was "very low probability" of the PS5 releasing this year.

Rumours regarding Sony's next console have been swirling for much of this year, but the sources haven't been reputable, and so we've ignored them.

Over the last couple of weeks, some wild rumors have been floating around suggesting that PlayStation 5 dev kits are already in the wild, with the console set to release either this year or next year.

Kotaku's extremely well-connected Jason Schreier has recently spoken to dozens of developers, both first and third-party, about the next generation of consoles, and most knew nothing about it.

"On a multi-year project, a lot can happen to shift schedules both forward and backward", one person said.

"At some point, Sony's probably looked at every possible date", said the insider. "In fact, from what we've heard, the next PlayStation is a ways away-it may not arrive until 2020", the website claims, which is more in line with other predictions from the industry.

The PlayStation 4's been around for five years now, which in console terms means it's old AF.

Previous PlayStation 5 rumors have pegged the console's release date to as early as 2019 and as late as 2021, but Sony has so far not revealed any official information regarding the next PlayStation console. After all, those early kits are often generic pieces of hardware that aren't specifically tied to the final design of a next-gen console.

Those developers that have formed the tier 1 of the circle and even Sony's own studios have the impression that a 2019 release is out of the question, unless Sony is making some drastic roster changes.

Death Road To Canada will be heading to PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch on 25th April.

Also in the report is word that the PS5 will play games that do not run on PS4, so this sounds like it could be a big step up.

Sony may have an announcement of a hardware or at least a teaser of it by the coming June.
