The Seattle Seahawks postponed a workout for Colin Kaepernick this week after the controversial quarterback declined to stop kneeling during the national anthem, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported Thursday. A resource told ESPN that the excursion was delay after the Seahawks contended about Kaepernick's anthem demonstration.

Seattle could look to add a veteran behind Wilson in order to potentially replicate what the Eagles got out of Nick Foles previous year.

Seattle has room on its roster for a backup quarterback after it cut Trevone Boykin in the wake of domestic violence allegations lodged against him by his longtime girlfriend.

This has thrown a major wrench into Kaepernick's desire to work his way back into the NFL.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport confirmed the meeting was postponed, but not because the Seahawks are against kneeling.

The day after the scheduled workout, NFL attorneys administered a deposition in NY regarding the league alleged attempts to keep him out of the league. And the Seahawks' backup quarterback situation is dire.

Kaepernick, then with the San Francisco 49ers, started the movement of National Football League players kneeling during the Star Spangled Banner in the 2016 preseason over racial inequality and oppression in the United States.

There could still be a chance that Kaepernick gets his workout with the Seahawks, however.

Earlier this week, the Cincinnati Bengals reportedly hesitated to sign Reid, another free agent, because he too would not promise to stand for the anthem in 2018.

"He's such a locker area cancer that his team mates gave him that the Len Eshmont Award, that is provided to the player who best exemplifies courage and inspiration". He began kneeling during the playing of the national anthem during the 2016 preseason to protest police brutality and racial injustice in the United States.

The Seahawks are no stranger to protests during the anthem. The protest drew both criticism and support, and gained widespread attention over the course of the 2016-17 and 2017-18 seasons.
