Chief Minister Punjab Shehbaz Sharif on Saturday said that Pakistan today is a progressive, tolerant and peaceful country, Radio Pakistan reported.

Meanwhile, Ujjwal Nikam, the high-profile public prosecutor who argued on behalf of the State during the 26/11 attack trial in India, said Sharif's statement was very important for the Centre as it proved that as then Pakistan Prime Minister, he was aware of the 26/11 attack but still didn't try to end its trial. Sharif admitted that Pakistan has "isolated" itself and the country's "narrative" is no longer accepted across the world. The story of Afghanistan was accepted, but not ours. "We must look into it", he said before speaking on the Mumbai attack.

Nawaz continued, "Militant organisations are active".

"Call them non-state actors, should we allow them to cross the border and kill over 150 people in Mumbai?"

"Explain it to me", he continued "Why can't we complete the trial?"

Shahbaz Sharif said a number of development projects are underway under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor.

On 26 November, 2008, 10 terrorists of Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) arrived in Mumbai by sea route and opened fire indiscriminately at people on different locations. Ajmal Kasab was captured alive, tried and sentenced to death. "President Putin has said it. President Xi has said it". In course of time Musharraf became unpopular when a Supreme Court decision in 2007 ruled that Sharif was free to re-enter Pakistan. A number of Pakistani witnesses - both official and civilian - have testified and provided evidence against the seven accused, but the Pakistani authorities have been insisting on questioning Indian witnesses for reaching a verdict in the case. There can only be one government: "the constitutional one", he said.
