Malificent Dragon Float BREAKING: Festival Of Fantasy Dragon Catches Fire At Magic Kingdom

The dragon float caught fire during the daily Festival of Fantasy Parade in Magic Kingdom. In a surreal scene, parade music blared from speakers as onlookers stared in amazement at the flaming monster. But a YouTube video shows the dragon's head first catch fire and then start smoking and then really start blazing with no special effects involved. Onlookers remained calm during the incident, apparently under the mistaken belief that it was part of the show.

The float, which was part of a "Maleficent"-themed creation, was stopped and cast members quickly moved guests away from the float and parade, Disney said".

The fire is out, and there were no injuries to visitors or staff, officials said.

Tampa resident Taylor Standridge was also at the park Friday when the fire occurred.

The dragon, described by the Sentinel as having a "steampunk" design, usually rolls through the streets of the park bobbing up and down and occasionally rearing its head back to blow out smoke and flames. "It did the fire-breathing thing and out of nowhere", she wrote, "the flame just bursted out of the top [and] kept growing".
