'Avengers: Infinity War' tops North American box office for third weekend

Box Office Report: 'Avengers: Infinity War' Remains Unstoppable 'Avengers: Infinity War' tops North American box office for third weekend

After dominating the global box office for three weeks straight, Avengers: Infinity War has now claimed the crown and become the highest grossing superhero film of all-time.

In addition, the movie grossed a near-record $200 million in China, bringing the worldwide estimate up to $1.059 billion and $546.8 million domestically! That's enough to become the fifth-highest grossing movie of all time, passing by Star Wars: The Last Jedi, Black Panther, Avengers: Age of Ultron, Furious 7, and the former king of the superhero box office, the original Marvel's The Avengers. Of course, this in large part due to Infinity War hitting China this past weekend, where it had a massive $200 million opening.

This may seem like a silly question to ask of a film like Avengers: Infinity War, but looking at the numbers and figures it may be hard for the film to turn a profit while in theaters. It is the only film of 2018 to break the 10 million mark.

Infinity War continues to break records at the Box Office. Melissa McCarthy's comedy "Life of the Party" debuted in second with $18.5 million from 3,656 locations. Something, someone forgot to tell Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan about this, when he went to watch Avengers Infinity War.

Falcone directed Life of the Party fom a script they co-wrote about a newly divorced mom who returns to college, where her daughter is also a student.

Breaking In stars Gabrielle Union stars as a woman who will stop at nothing to rescue her two children, who are being held hostage in a house designed with impenetrable security.

Life of the Party and Breaking In both earned mediocre B CinemaScores. That makes it the second-fastest title ever to cross the $500 million mark domestically. The movie's domestic total through Sunday is $29.6 million.

The second weekend of Lionsgate and Pantelion's comedy "Overboard" landed in fourth with $10 million, while the sixth weekend of Paramount's "A Quiet Place" secured No. 5 with $6.3 million.
