He said he could not reveal their names in court but was confident that they would have the majority if there was a floor test.

While opposing tomorrow's floor test, former attorney general Mukul Rohatgi, who was representing BJP in the apex court said that since the Congress MLAs are not in Bengaluru, the floor test should be postponed.

Yeddyruppa took oath as planned but on Friday at 10.30 am.

A leader from Prime Minister Narendra Modi's party took the oath to become chief minister of a key southern Indian state on Thursday after the Supreme Court rejected a last-minute bid to block the move.

The BJP won 104 seats in the 224-member assembly, nine short of a majority. The 15-day window given to BJP to prove its majority was also deliberated upon, but the court refused to modify it, for now.

The opposition parties challenged the governor's actions and petitioned the Supreme Court to stay the swearing in ceremony.

The apex court also directed the Karnataka government and the Governor not to nominate any MLA from the Anglo-Indian community to participate in the floor test tomorrow.

Amid a power struggle in Karnataka, some of the newly-elected JD (S) and Congress MLAs from the state arrived in the city today and are expected to be lodged in five-star hotels or resorts here, party sources said.

In a turn of events, the JD (S) and Congress forge a post-poll alliance government.

The Congress chief added if the BJP wanted to talk about corruption, it should discuss the Rafale jet deal, BJP chief Amit Shah's son and (Union minister) Piyush Goyal's company.

"The election outcome, regardless of who controls the government, already shows the BJP remains popular, they can swing states that are otherwise challenging to win, and still have a superior political strategy", said Shailesh Kumar, Asia director at political risk firm Eurasia Group.

Dated May 15 and 16, Yeddyurappa had written two letters to Governor Vajubhai Vala on Tuesday and Wednesday to stake his claim for government formation.

On Thursday, in his first public address since the Karnataka poll results, Congress President Rahul Gandhi has said that the Constitution is under severe attack and BJP-RSS is capturing every democratic institution in the country.

Rohatgi also said that there was no need for Yeddyurappa to give names of all MLAs who were supporting him to Governor and he was ready to prove majority any time. The Congress-JD (S) had submitted a letter with 117 signatures.

The election to one seat was countermanded after the death of a candidate.

Lashing out at the Governor's move, the Congress called it "partisan and biased" and rushed to the Supreme Court for an urgent hearing that commenced at 2.20 a.m. and concluded at 5.30 in the morning.
