Lyon captain Nabil Fekir is set to become Liverpool's latest signing in a £53 million (US$71 million) deal, according to British press reports on Thursday (Jun 7).

He is said to be the advisor to Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas and was key in making the transfer happen.

L'Equipe says the Reds have agreed a £57.1million deal for Fekir.

According to the same story, the France worldwide has indicated that he will only move to Liverpool FC in the current transfer window to force Lyon's hand.

Fekir will be given permission to leave France's World Cup training base and could undergo his medical on Merseyside on Friday.

Aulas' comments had cast doubt over the deal, with the notoriously hard 69-year-old telling Lyon's official website: "The record is at a standstill, there is no way forward".

Liverpool are looking to add depth to their squad and reinvest after selling Philippe Coutinho to Barcelona in January. The case won't certainly be resolved during the World Cup and I do not think that there will be changes before (the WC).

But Express Sports still understands Liverpool are set to complete a £53million deal for Lyon ace Fekir today.

"Then there price goes up and Liverpool behind the scenes are trying to sign Fekir before the World Cup".

Fekir will be the third new player to arrive at Anfield this summer, behind Monaco man Fabinho who was signed earlier this window, and RB Leipzig's Naby Keita, whose signature was acquired last summer.
