Kim Jong-un talks denuclearisation on visit to Beijing

North Korea expected to begin transferring remains of US troops soon North Korea to hand over US troops remains ‘in next few days’ – report

Wi Sung-rak, a former Korean Ambassador to Russian Federation, said Pak's visit was evidence North Korea was building up its momentum for economic development.

The removal of anti-U.S. posters and now souvenirs in North Korea may be linked to warming U.S-DPRK relations, culminating last week in a summit between Kim Jong Un and U.S. President Donald Trump in Singapore.

One official said "a sizable number" of remains were expected to be handed over, but declined to give a specific number given the unpredictability of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un. The U.S. and South Korea also suspended a major joint military exercise that was planned for August in what was seen as a major victory for North Korea and its chief allies, China and Russian Federation.

More Americans favor than oppose ending sanctions created to limit North Korea's economy (37 percent to 27 percent), and a large majority - 69 percent - say they'd favor a treaty marking an official end to the Korean War.

Chinese President Xi Jinping, left, and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un.

In March, Mr Kim visited China for the first time in his six years in office, prior to his summit with South Korean President Moon Jae-in.

That could allow the lifting of U.N. Security Council economic sanctions that have hamstrung North Korea's foreign trade, although the US insists those measures can only be eased after the North shows it has ended its nuclear programs.

The United States and North Korea have been the focus of coverage, but China, despite sitting on the sidelines, has been, and will continue to be, the real victor.

Up to 200 sets of remains belonging to American servicemen are expected to be transferred from North Korea to the United Nations command in South Korea in the next few days, two US defense officials confirmed to Fox News. The latter was the site of fierce fighting, and the remains of more than 2000 United States soldiers and Marines are believed to be missing there, United States military officials said at the time. "North Korea has already finished developing (the) Baekdu Engine, so there would be no problem running ICBM missile programs even if they close down the Sohae site", Yang said.

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un is in China. At the time, Trump hailed the move, calling it "really a very nice thing" on the part of Kim. "I know that we're engaged on it".

Mr Kim also told Mr Xi he was willing to bolster the bilateral friendship and co-operation, it said. Fifty-five percent think North Korea isn't serious about addressing global concerns about its nuclear weapons program.

Although details are scarce, the timing and staging of Kim's trip sends a clear message about Beijing's place at the center of East Asian diplomacy - and its power over North Korea.

Asked on Wednesday whether North Korea has done anything toward denuclearization since the summit, U.S. Defense Secretary Jim Mattis told reporters: "No, I'm not aware of that".

Families of soldiers missing from the Korean War hope for closure after Trump-Kim summit; two families speak out on 'The Story'.

"Not only the Chinese government, but also the whole Chinese society can not accept the US trying to blackmail China", the state-controlled Global Times newspaper said in an editorial Tuesday.
