Divers cling to hope of finding lost Thai boys

Although the 12 boys who disappeared with their soccer coach over a week ago have been found alive, they're trapped in a Thai cave & will have to learn to dive or else wait months to be rescued from flooding waters!

"The best option is to leave them where they are and stabilize their environment", said Peter Wolf, the national director of the Cave Divers Association of Australia told the Guardian.

Rescue divers had spent much of Monday making preparations for a final push to locate them, efforts that had been hampered by flooding that made it hard to move through the tight passageways of muddy water. Still, the British Cave Rescue Council said, "Any attempt to dive the boys and their coach out will not be taken lightly because there are significant technical challenges and risks to consider". A fellow boy tells him they already said this, and then the rescuer assures them that "Navy SEALs will come tomorrow, with food and doctors and everything".

He said pumps are running 24 hours a day in an effort to get the water level inside the caves down, but there has been no information if it's making enough of a difference for the group to get out.

Aged between 11 and 16, the boys went missing with the 25-year-old coach after soccer practice on June 23 after they set out to explore the Tham Luang cave complex in a forest park near Thailand's northern border with Myanmar.

The video then details questions asked by the boys, including when they will be rescued.

"You have been here for 10 days, you are very strong".

How did they find them?

But the cave divers they've got over there are some of the most experienced in the world, especially when it comes to search and rescue operations.

"We will look after them until they can return to school".

"We will bring food to them and a doctor who can dive".

Divers have thus far been thwarted by muddy water rising up in sections of the cave and forcing rescuers to withdraw over safety concerns, The Associated Press reports.

A soccer team stranded in a Thai cave system for more than a week was found relatively healthy on Monday, but it may take months to get everyone out. Even if the boys were taught diving skills, taking them out of the cave would still be risky. That could take months, however, given that Thailand's rainy season typically lasts through October. "The Royal Thai Government and the Thai people are grateful for this support and co-operation, and we all wish the team a safe and speedy recovery".

Hopes were also high for finding some kind of access through fissures on the mountainside that might lead to shafts into the cave.

Australian police and military personnel were deployed Saturday to join other multinational teams, including USA military personnel and experts from a British cave exploration club.

The group's health was assessed overnight by medical teams which will continue to check the health of the group on Monday, said Narongsak, explaining that the boys had sustained light injuries.
