Julius Randle agrees to two-year deal with New Orleans Pelicans

The Lakers Have Renounced Julius Randle This move just broke the NBA

Players and teams are free to negotiate and agree on new contracts, but they can't officially sign them until Friday morning PT.

Perhaps they did so because Randle reportedly expressed his desire to play elsewhere next season after the team signed LeBron James over the weekend. Once the Lakers began signing Lance Stephenson and JaVale McGee on Sunday night, Randle saw the writing on the wall in Los Angeles.

Sources told ESPN that Randle requested that the Lakers renounce him, sparing him what he believed would be a reduced role in a return to the team.

The point guard is the latest player to join forces with James.

Fiesty guard Rajon Rondo is heading to the LA Lakers.

It didn't take Julius Randle long to find a home. Thomas became an unrestricted free agent Saturday.

Randle averaged 16.1 points, eight rebounds, and 2.6 assists in all 82 games with the Lakers last season.

Rondo, 32, was a member of the Celtics team that won the National Basketball Association championship in 2007-08, beating the Lakers in six games in the Finals. He also has played for the Boston Celtics, Dallas Mavericks, Sacramento Kings and Chicago Bulls.

Rondo is going to Lakers training camp and has plans to compete for the starting job, according to Yahoo Sports.

Lakers are searching potential free agents this summer with San Antonio Spurs man Kawhi Leonard a rumoured key target.

The Los Angeles Lakers are signing veteran point guard Rajon Rondo.

"Thank you Northeast Ohio for an incredible four seasons", said James on his Instagram account.

DeMarcus Cousins has been mentioned as a possibility for the Lakers, who might be interested in bringing him in. It was reported earlier today that Randle was excited about the possibility of playing on the Lakers in 2018-19. His progression since he was drafted out of Kentucky with the No. 7 pick in the 2014 NBA Draft raised eyes in his fourth NBA season.
