Ohio Governor John Kasich is one of the latest personalities that have come to the defense of Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James after being attacked by U.S. President Donald Trump on social media.

Trump didn't take well to the reference in the CNN interview, and decided in turn to insult LeBron's intelligence. As James said in the interview, Trump has not only repeatedly over the years, during his campaign and now as POTUS showcased his racist beliefs, he's emboldened some Americans to do the same.

Trump wrote, "Lebron James was just interviewed by the dumbest man on television, Don Lemon". In the interview, James showcases his new school for underprivileged kids, discusses his upbringing, and touches on the current state of race in America.

The future NBA Hall of Famer responded, "I would never sit across from him".

James first said Mr. Trump is using sports to divide Americans at a press conference in September 2017, when Mr. Trump claimed he had disinvited Steph Curry and the Golden State Warriors, although the team had decided not to visit.

Trump has repeatedly and strongly criticized the NFL in particular for not punishing players who kneel during the national anthem in a form of protest.

Lemon fired back: "Who's the real dummy?" Lemon tweeted. "A man who puts kids in classrooms or one who puts kids in cages?" The school is aimed at providing comprehensive services for at-risk youth, and James is providing $8 million in funding for it through his LeBron James Family Foundation.

Responses to the President's comments have been harsh and swift, crossing party lines. By the way, all-around he's better than Michael Jordan.

Fox News host Laura Ingraham, a vocal Trump supporter, called James and fellow basketball star Kevin Durant ignorant and suggested they "shut up and dribble". "I believe there's someone else out there". "They always use it to say 'OK, this is even more motivation, this is even more a way for me to even be more powerful.' And they're the reason why we are here today".

James has been outspoken in his dislike for Trump in the past.
