Jolie, 43, filed for divorce from Pitt, 53, in 2016 after two years of marriage, citing irreconcilable differences.

Shortly before Jolie's attorney filed the two-page brief in L.A. Tuesday, a source told E!

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt's divorce proceedings have taken another turn.

"Angelina is not in need of money and could easily put a payment plan together for child support with Brad without this aggressive approach, but this is the way she chooses to handle things", the source continues.

The divorce proceedings are nearly at the two year mark, and according to a source, a major part of the delay is finding a custody agreement that works for both actors. In the June court documents, it showed that Angelina was at risk of losing full custody of her children if, depending on the circumstances, the children remained closed off to their dad.

Reps for Pitt did not immediately return InStyle's request for comment.

A document surfaced earlier this summer, which showed their judge ordered Jolie to give Pitt more time with their six children. According to a new report from NBC News, Jolie will seek a court order to force Pitt to pay.

"This happened because Brad became fed up and said he wanted to start the formal process of divorce again and filed papers to do that", a source allegedly close to Pitt told Page Six, calling it "nothing more than a publicity stunt", the Los Angeles Times reported.

Jolie's team is asking for a status conference to address the issue.

The judge warned Jolie directly, "If the minor children remain closed down to their father and depending on the circumstances surrounding this condition, it may result in a reduction of the time they spend with [Jolie] and may result in the Court ordering primary physical custody to [Pitt]".

The September 2016 split quickly turned nasty, with the Federal Bureau of Investigation being called in to investigate claims that Pitt hit their eldest child, Maddox, during an argument on a plane.
