Justice lawyer was told Russia had 'Trump over a barrel'

Former associate deputy U.S. attorney general Bruce Ohr arrives to testify behind closed doors before the House Judiciary and Pres. Trump Accuses Bruce, Nellie Ohr Of Colluding With Russia

President Donald Trump said the chief justice of the US Supreme Court should tell the head of a national security court to question Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and Justice Department officials about their use of a so-called Russian Federation dossier as part of a collusion probe. The materials were not among 800,000 pages of documents provided by the Justice Department to their panels, they said.

They're asking that Oversight Chairman Trey Gowdy of SC and Judiciary Chairman Bob Goodlatte schedule a bipartisan meeting with the Justice Department to discuss the sensitivity of the documents, which they say contain details about a confidential human source.

Steele and Ohr, at the time of the election a senior official in the deputy attorney general's office, had first met a decade earlier and bonded over a shared interest in global organized crime.

The dossier was compiled by former British spy Christopher Steele in work partly financed by the Democratic National Committee (DNC).

"Will Bruce Ohr, whose family received big money for helping to create the phony, dirty and discredited Dossier, ever be fired from the Jeff Sessions "Justice" Department?"

According to the Times, Ohr and Steele first discussed flipping Deripaska in November 2014. Ohr's wife, Nellie, who worked for the political research firm, Fusion GPS, that hired Steele, attended at least part of it. They weren't authorized to discuss it and spoke on condition of anonymity.

Besides Weissmann, according to Herridge's two sources, Ohr also collaborated with former Federal Bureau of Investigation agent Peter Strzok, former Federal Bureau of Investigation lawyer Lisa Page, former deputy director Andrew McCabe, at least one other DOJ official, and a current Federal Bureau of Investigation agent who worked with Strzok on the Russian Federation case. Ohr's relationship with his wife and his interactions with Steele tie him loosely to the Russian Federation investigation.

Ironically, one of the sources said Weissmann was kept "in the loop" on the fraudulent dossier while he was head of the criminal fraud division.

Ohr's communications with Steele were blessed by former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe, though he did not inform his supervisor, then-Deputy Attorney General Sally Yates, about the meetings, according to the source with knowledge of Ohr's testimony.

Ohr was told Sessions and Rosenstein did not want him in the post because it involved White House meetings, the sources told the AP.
