"The extent of their relationship is under investigation", said Instagram user Marriam_Muhammad about the incident. Her bond had not yet been set. They had served as Botham Jean's "Arkansas parents" during his time at Harding.

She is accused of killing 26-year-old Botham Jean inside his South Side Flats apartment on Thursday night after accidentally walking inside - thinking it was her own residence.

The shooting sparked major outrage on social media and widespread calls for Guyger's arrest. The legal team as not yet released a statement on her arrest. But as of late Saturday, no formal charge had been filed, and no arrest warrant had been issued. It wasn't immediately clear if she had an attorney.

Authorities haven't said how the officer got into Jean's home, or whether his door was open or unlocked.

Guyger, 30, is a four-year veteran of the department, assigned to the Southeast Patrol Division.

Hall said that her department was in the process of obtaining a manslaughter warrant for the officer Friday, but the Rangers asked police to "hold off" on the warrant.

Sammie says while there are still many unanswered questions surrounding Jean's death, his mother is asking the community to lift them up in prayer. Martin, a black, unarmed 17-year-old, was shot and killed by a neighborhood watch volunteer in 2012 in Sanford, Florida.

"I have to believe based on experience that her decision to use deadly force in the way that she did was influenced by the fact that she was standing in front of a black male and that our society has allowed law enforcement to use deadly force in unnecessary situations against black men with impunity", he said.

Responding officers found Botham Shem Jean, 26, badly wounded. Crutcher, 40, was shot and killed by a white police officer in 2016 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was shot by a Dallas police officer in his apartment on Thursday night.

Jean's mother, Allison, suggested in an interview on Friday that her son might still be alive if he was white.

Moments earlier on Sunday, Jean's family attorney Lee Merritt met with Dallas County District Attorney Faith Johnson presenting new evidence and demanding that Guyger be taken into custody.

While Johnson could not answer the question during their meeting, the new evidence brought forward included a witness and video footage in the aftermath of the shooting, according to Merritt. Guyger, who had been returning home from her shift, was required to provide a blood sample for drug and alcohol testing, police said. Investigators haven't released the results of those tests.

Botham Shem Jean, who grew up on the Caribbean island of Saint Lucia, was a respected member of a local church. If it was a white man would it have been different? Would she have reacted differently?' she told KXAS. Allison Jean said Friday in footage broadcast by KXAS.

The man, later identified as Uvaldo Perez, 46, took Guyger's Taser. Guyger was trying to assist, when a struggle began with Perez. Perez got out of a auto and became combative with Guyger and another officer.

Then at some point she fired her weapon striking the victim.

Guyger was not charged in the 2017 shooting. The officer's apartment was directly below Jean's, he said. The family recommended that Jean move there because they thought he would be safe there. "God gave me an angel". His uncle Ignatius Jean said the slaying left relatives devastated and looking for answers.
