India eye clean sweep against West Indies

Prithvi Shaw has been in fine form for India A and Mumbai Prithvi Shaw has been in fine form for India A and Mumbai

The Windies were set a huge task just to force India to bat again and swiftly lost captain Kraigg Brathwaite to set the tone for a miserable final session which ended with the tourists staggering to a measly 94-6 at the close. However, he showed glimpses of coming back in-form in the first Test by scoring 41 runs.

India extended their dominance after 18-year-old opener Prithvi Shaw made 134 on day one to become their youngest batsman to score a century on debut. Fast bowler Alzarri Joseph, who is on the road back from a stress fracture of the back he suffered late past year, has been included for the ODIs pending a fitness test. Joseph was included in the Test squad for India too, before being ruled out after two fitness assessments.

Kohli said the team management acknowledges Shaw's "supreme talent" and his ability to play at the highest level but insisted that the Mumbai sensation needs space to fulfil his potential.

Performance: How did West Indies perform in the first Test?

Shaw went on to make more headlines in India with debut centuries in both the domestic Ranji Trophy and Duleep Trophy and he was awarded the captaincy of country's Under-19 team.

Add to it, windies skipper Jason Holder is still not 100 per cent fit and their only fast bowler of repute Shannon Gabriel is a doubtful starter for the encounter. We believe he can change games for us.

Dwayne Bravo and Lendl Simmons, who'd also committed to playing the Super50 along with Darren Bravo and Pollard, did not feature in the squads for the India tour.

The only cause of concern for the Indian team management is Rahane, who last scored a hundred against Sri Lanka in August 2017. Last week, the India skipper scored his 24th Test ton in the first Test at Rajkot.

Having been dropped mid-way through the England series on the back of a mediocre outing in the only chance he received in the Tests, Kuldeep couldn't have asked for a better return upon being recalled to the Test team.

With tea beckoning, West Indies struck twice to temporarily stall India's progress.

Kuldeep Yadav bagged 5 wickets in the second innings while Ravindra Jadeja took 3.

Bishoo was the most successful bowler for West Indies with 4-217 and, in worrying signs for their own batsmen, got some balls to turn past the Indians.

Match starts at 9:30am (IST).
